Awesome experience with Vmware Workstation & Unity
As you might have guessed by our tag line, we are working on tools to help shrink & share your virtual machines. We are planning to launch some of these tools on both windows and linux (and mac later). Today I decided to try a new way to compile across both platforms and had the most awesome experience with VMWare Workstation & the Unity feature. Usually I check out the code on both platforms and compile it. Today I launched a xterm from Ubuntu running inside a VM, shared by unity. The Ubuntu window popped up on my windows desktop. The source folder was shared inside the VM. So I just went to the appropriate directory in my Ubuntu shell and typed make. Now I can edit on windows and just compile on Ubuntu or Redhat, without having to replicate my tools on all the platforms. Awesome
